Pet Birds – Canary
August 17th, 2010 by Jack Kidd`Being that they require a cage to live in, the size of the cage depends on the size of the bird. Small perches and a swing by be made available, as well as toys, such mirrors and bells. There should plenty of room for the bird to get exercise by flying in the cage.
Birds often bond with their owners. They can be taken out of the cage and learn to land on the owners shoulder or extended finger. This is a good time for a bath. Place a small saucer with water on a table and they will take a bath. This makes a good relationship between bird and owner. Birds like to be touched gently which adds to the relationship. Another must is to keep the cage clean with daily changing the paper in the bottom daily.
If you are lucky enough to get a good singer, you will enjoy their cheerful songs for a long time. They usually start singing shortly after day break and continue the rest of the day. It is a joy to hear their cheerful singing. The cage may be covered with a dark cover to prevent singing.
