Beautiful Bird: the Amazing Painted Bunting
August 19th, 2010 by Jack Kidd`
The painted bunting, lives mostly in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi and South Carolina. This bird looks like someone took the gaudy colors blue, red, green, and black and randomly painted the bird. No other bird in the U.S. has such coloring, The adult male has a bright blue head, a red breast and rump, a green back and tail. If you are lucky enough to see one it is breathtaking for its extraordinary beauty. One would have to look twice to believe that any bird outside the tropics could be that striking. The adult female however is rather drab, bright green above and pale green every where else. It is very exciting to see an adult painted bunting.
